Self-advocacy, confidence, and assertiveness are meaningful tools that everyone can use to increase their job satisfaction by being an active contributor to their own success. Unfortunately, the opportunities to learn these skills are not evenly distributed in the workforce. After graduation I worked at Barton Malow Construction as a project engineer with a focus on civil subcontractors for two years. I focus mostly on stormwater management projects in Virginia, and am currently certified in plan review in the state. Currently I plan on getting my P.E. this year. When I started working at Dewberry, I decided that in order to further my career, I wanted to pursue my masters. Being back in school (part time), my passion for students and recruiting came back to the forefront. I’m passionate about building up younger engineers, specifically want to advocate for women. While retention at our jobs is incredibly important, it is also important to get women into the field in the first place.
